The iMap community mapping project recorded and revealed the dense layers of place-based experiences through the Melbourne CBD, whilst creating and facilitating experimental place-based art. A massive-scale physical map of the CBD served as a canvas to collect place-stories of the city, creating both a multilayered installation as well as a month-long forum for sharing community experiences and oral history. Wayfaring journeys through the city were audio recorded and anonymously re-enacted, while craft-based workshops provided mutli-sensory engagement. Through this collective and personal story-telling, and secret-sharing, the project celebrated and refracted the myriad of invisible stories and experiences continuously taking place in the city.
