From rooftop gardens to river’s edge, galleries to abandoned places, ecological artworks; this pioneering multi-venue festival celebrated an ecosystem of ecological creativity amongst the backdrop of the Melbourne cityscape. Challenging the stark white walls of the traditional art gallery, it encouraged public participation through ecological art forms that evolve and interact with their human and natural environments. Over three years the festival celebrated the fertile connections between art and social change and the many ways in which they benefit each other, while extending the ecological and social awareness of Melbourne’s art community.
